Pro-Viden Monitoring Water Quality in Mexico

XALAPA, MEXICO – Preemar Soluciones Acuícola, a real-time water quality monitoring system, captured first prize at the national finals of the Entrepreneurship World Cup competition held recently in Mexico.

Its founder, Alejandro Valdes, captured the first place and advances to the next round of the global competition against national winners from 184 countries.

“Pro-Viden performs measurements of 6 water parameters in real-time and sends these measurements to the farmer through the application, alerting him to variations that may affect the health of the crop,” said Valdes. “Upon detecting a sudden change out of the optimal state, you are sent a preventive notification through our mobile application, so you can take the necessary measures.”

Preemar Soluciones Acuícola develops the Pro-Viden device to monitor the quality of water in aquaculture ponds, in order to promote early reaction to changes in water parameters and prevent the proliferation of bacteria in crops.

In preparation for the EWC Global Finals, Valdez will participate in an acceleration program which features virtual training and one-to-one mentoring targeted to their company’s current stage and growth trajectory.

Preemar Soluciones Acuícola emerged victorious from a pool of 708 contestants who applied – each receiving access to free virtual training services to help them take their venture to the next level.

Other finalists at EWC Mexico included:

  • InteVolution/InteLentes, a startup enabling blind people to see through sound
  • Beo Authenticity Systems, an anti-counterfeit infallible glass container
  • TrackChain, a bridge to the new smart logistics
  • Nostrorum, an app to create successful people improving social culture

More than 102,000 contestants from 184 countries entered the Entrepreneurship World Cup. The initiative combines a broad-reaching pitch competition, aimed at ventures ranging from the idea stage to the growth stage, with a virtual accelerator program to help all participants launch, strengthen and scale their enterprises. Global Finalists will face off against one another at the Misk Global Forum ahead of Global Entrepreneurship Week in November 2019.

EWC is an initiative led by the Global Entrepreneurship Network and Misk Global Forum with support from a collection of national and global partners, including the Global Educational and Leadership Foundation and GSVlabs.
